The most well-known “C” for carat is a reference to the diamond’s weight, not its size. One diamond carat is equal to 0.2 grams—roughly the weight of a paperclip. Carat weight is significant because it indicates the size of the rough diamond it was cut from. Diamonds at higher carat weights are rare.
Considered the most important of the 4Cs, cut is a reference to the arrangement of a diamond’s facets. Often mistaken for shape, it is the way the diamond’s surface interacts with and catches the light. A delicate balance of proportion, symmetry and polish, cut is what delivers a diamond’s much-desired brilliance. Masterfully cut by our own foundry, our sustainably created diamonds are cut to perfection.
Cut to maximize brilliance. Perfect proportions. Rare quality held by <1% of all diamonds.
The second most important of the 4Cs, color, is a reference to the absence of color in a diamond. Diamonds come in a variety of hues, but truly colorless white diamonds are rare and most have a slight hint of yellow. The closer to colorless a white diamond is, the rarer and more valuable it becomes.
I - Near colorless.
Color differences are difficult to detect unless compared side-by-side.
The “C” most obscured to the naked eye, clarity, refers to the visual purity of a diamond. Determined by the number of inclusions or imperfections in the stone, clarity is difficult to notice without the help of a magnifier. These inclusions occur naturally during the diamond growth process and are what make each diamond unique.
SI1 - Slightly included.
Inclusions may be noticeable depending on the cut and shape
