The prongs differentiate this setting from the Signature 6 Prong and the Signature Solitaire setting.

Depending on the style, a Solitaire engagement ring usually signals to the world that you have timelessly elegant taste. Its symbolic meaning is entirely up to you and your partner, and may also vary depending on your chosen diamond shape. But generally, the single diamond highlighted in the ring symbolizes your unity as a couple, or is a celebration of having found “the one.”

In short, yes, a 6-prong Solitaire engagement ring is more secure than a 4-prong engagement ring. But 4-prong settings are still incredibly secure, so deciding between settings should be based on your style and taste. 

The two additional prongs featured in a 6-prong setting will add an extra layer of security to your diamond solitaire. Individuals might choose this setting for that reassurance or simply because they love the style. 

But both 4 and 6-prong settings need basic care; you should always remove your engagement ring before any sort of manual labor, like gardening, or before exercising with weights or practicing yoga, for example. This protects it from scratching or, in a rare worse case scenario, knocking your diamond loose.

A diamond Solitaire is considered the traditional setting for an engagement ring, whereas  Toi et Moi or Three Stone engagement rings continue to grow in popularity. But certain styles of Solitaire engagement rings are more traditional than others. A Signature Solitaire or Classic Solitaire are the most well-known styles, whereas a Two Tone or Classic Hidden Halo add a unique twist to this timeless setting.

There are three settings in particular that will make your Solitaire VRAI created diamond look larger. The first is a Cathedral engagement ring setting that lifts the diamond closer to the eye. After that, there are Halo engagement rings and Bezel engagement rings that make the center stone look bigger with additional metal or pavé-set diamonds. Choosing elongated diamond shapes such as Marquise, Pear, Emerald, or Oval cut diamonds will also make it appear bigger.
